Rapeseed

By Olivia Pierce Graham

It started as a diatribe.
A letter to the self, dictated
by some other self. Before the
safflower disappeared,
it was the rapeseed.

One by one by one.

Now, the dried ink speaks from
another realm. It seems that I’ve always
harbored these grave concerns and
frightening levels of elation.
My own raucous voice says
this should come as no surprise.

I’m still speculating about its hint of insincerity,
as if I could know sincerity by sound.
